8. Example of Convergence

The Iphone is the most typical example of convergence from this generation of technology. It is a phone with built in Mp3, video, internet, camera and video recorder, it is an example of technology becoming more converged (11), miniaturaised (6) and portable (5). It runs with I Tunes and links with the company with Apple.

- It holds up to 16g of on board memory.

- Is only provided on O2 network, vertical integration (13) as it encourages consumer loyalty.

- Allows an emailing and web browsing function, on a fast broadband service (Quad band), which is an example of immediacy (4)

- Touch screen is an example of greater interactivity through technology as it allows the consumer to access functions in new ways.

- Safari internet browsing is another example of vertical integration (13) as it is compatible with the mac. downloading themes and pictures from the web to use as backgrounds allows personalisation (7)
